The California College of the Arts (CCA) is combining all its programs into a newly unified campus on its existing San Francisco campus. This project comprises new construction, selective reprogramming and renovation of the existing 2.4-acre site, and public realm improvements to better connect the CCA San Francisco campus buildings with each other and the surrounding dense urban neighborhood. The project will identify ways to enhance CCA’s functionality, culture, impact, interdisciplinary practices, civic engagement, and environmental sustainability.

Lotus is providing the full service of Civil Engineering services, from conceptual design to final construction documents, for the new academic building site and the connecting public realm, including streetscapes and public open spaces. A key feature of Lotus’ preliminary design services included the development of a district-scale non-potable reuse system integrated into the stormwater management program. The system optimizes resource management from the diverse uses on the campus by meeting 100% of non-potable demands—offsetting approximately 1 million gallons of potable water annually—while efficiently achieving compliance with the San Francisco Stormwater Management Ordinance.
