Fort Mason Entry Plaza
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
< PROJECTS
Lotus is providing civil engineering design for a new entry plaza at the existing entry gate for the lower Fort Mason campus. Fort Mason, once an historic army post located at the edge of the San Francisco Bay, is now home to the Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, Golden Gate National Recreation Area headquarters, restaurants, coffee shops, retail shops, and artist studios. The entry plaza redevelopment project includes new enhanced paving, grading and accessibility improvements, custom furniture, bike racks, lighting, bike circulation, and a customized grate over the historic railroad lines that bisect the plaza. Additionally, the project includes the design of bike lanes throughout the entire campus area.
As the Civil Engineer on the team, Lotus is providing the grading, drainage, and site utility design, as well as streetscape improvement plans for the portion of plaza that encroaches into the City right-of-way. Lotus is working closely with the Landscape Architect, Plural Studio, and the Transportation Consultant, Nelson Nygaard, on the bike loop alignment and associated signing and striping plans
