McLaren Park Playground
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
< PROJECTS
The McLaren Park Playground and Group Picnic Area project, funded by the 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond, includes the reconstruction of a playground and upgrades to the picnic areas, pedestrian paths, and passenger unloading area within San Francisco’s McLaren Park. The nature-inspired playground, designed by CMG Landscape Architecture, features a tall tower structure that will provide children with stunning views of San Francisco.
As the Civil Engineer on the project, Lotus Water provided the design of the drainage, site utilities, and passenger loading zone. Lotus collaborated closely with CMG and SF Rec & Park to develop a stormwater management design that minimizes impacts to the park programming and keeps construction costs low, while meeting the City’s Stormwater Management Requirements. The site’s hilly topography provided challenges for the development of accessible areas and connecting paths; Lotus supported the grading design of these areas to meet City ADA requirements and drainage needs. Lotus is currently providing construction observation and coordination with SF Public Works on a new restroom project adjacent to this project site.
