Mission Bay Bayfront Park P-22
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
< PROJECTS
Mission Bay Bayfront Park is one of the last pieces of a network of open-spaces and trails that envision a new way of engaging the Eastern Waterfront from Bayview-Hunters Point to the Embarcadero. The 5.4-acre site is located on the Mission Bay waterfront adjacent to the Golden State Warriors arena. The project began construction in Summer 2022 and includes large flexible spaces for various events, a café, native landscaping, trails, and unique design features that engage the water and celebrate the Bay views and the site’s industrial history.
Lotus collaborated with the design team, led by Surfacedesign Inc., to integrate passive stormwater management systems into the site design that illustrate the connection of the urban runoff to the San Francisco Bay while meeting the City’s stormwater requirements. Lotus also helped inform how the site will address sea level rise and storm surges in the future. Additionally, Lotus led the detailed design of the grading, drainage, and demolition plans, and assisted the team with presentations to the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) and other agencies.
Lotus provided construction observation services for the project until its completion in 2024.
